Karin's Camp is situated in the Waterberg mountain massif, 2 ½ hours from Johannesburg by car
or 40 minutes by private plane from JHB INT Airport. The Lodge is on one of the highest points
of the mountain plateau with breathtaking views. The maximum daytime temp never exceeds 32
degrees and the heat of summer is tempered by refreshing breezes.
The Waterberg mountain massif has the largest concentration of Black and White rhino in Africa
outside of the Kruger National Park. It has recently been approved as a Biosphere Reserve area
by UNESCO and is widely acknowledged as one of the more undisturbed, undiscovered and un-
commercial wilderness areas in South Africa.
The wildlife at Karin's Camp Game Reserve includes rhino, leopard, brown hyena, caracal,
jackal, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, eland, kudu, onyx, impala, red hartebeest, other smaller
plains antelope and a rich bird life, especially in summer with migrating eagles.
